Ian Toews

Working alternately in Finland, Japan, and his home Canada, Ian Toews not surprisingly makes films about places. While explicitly about landscapes, these films are often implicitly political – usually dealing with issues of environment. His work is regularly screened at festivals, museums, galleries, and cinemas around the world. He is perhaps best known for the multiple-awarded film “Four Corners” (1998/99), the Grand Prix-winning film at the 2000 Tampere International Film Festival.
