This Is A Safe Space

It’s 2017 and the world is young, hip, and blindly woke. The tech world is teeming with ground-breaking ideas, the office kitchens are stocked with world class snacks, the offices industrial and modern, and the employees are liberal. This office is not exempt and in this world, socially correct buzzwords carry more weight than actions. Taraja, a cool and collected executive and Ashlynn, an upbeat, outspoken receptionist have decided that they have had enough. Enough of the comments, enough of the questions, and most of all enough of people touching their hair. As their day progresses, CEO and self-aligned ally boss Jake and the rest of the office staff make sure to hit every nail on the head. Little do they know, Taraja has been plotting and Ashlynn has been scheming to show this office that their office isn’t actually a safe space. At the monthly Diversity and Equity meeting, things come to a head when Taraja and Jake dive into a heated discussion about the microaggressions the rest of the staff practices daily. Taraja and Ashlynn finally make a grand exit, liberating themselves from their current reality. They leave Jake and the rest of the office behind with nothing but his dashiki and self-congratulatory poster.
